Port Blair, July 21: The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) will organize various functions including laying of wreaths, visit Indian Naval ships, a concert by Indian Army band, sports fixtures, etc to Mark 20th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas.
A ceremonial performance by the Army band has also been planned at South Point on 26th July 19 from 4 PM to 5 PM. Andaman and Nicobar Command has welcomed all citizens to be a part of the celebrations. Operation Vijay involved major operations to evict Pakistani intruders from Indian Territory on the icy heights of Dras, Kargil, Batalik and Turtuk and bears witness to the courage, valour and sacrifice of the soldiers of the Indian armed forces. Th20th-anniversary celebrations are aimed at ‘Remembering their sacrifice’, ‘Rejoicing in their victory’ and ‘Renewing the pledge’ to go beyond the call of duty when called upon.
