Port Blair, July 12: Mr. Abdul Siddique, Ex-Pramukh, Mayabunder has requested to the Lt. Governor and the Chief Secretary to take immediate action for the construction of playground in Pokadera area of Mayabunder.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor and the Chief Secretary, Mr. Abdul Siddique said that a land area measuring 01 hectare in survey No 129/1 was set apart and allotted for the purpose of playground and mini stadium at Pokadera in the year 2008.
“As Mayabunder is the headquarter of N & M Andaman District, a proper ground is required for one or the other events to be conducted. The present ground which is the main ground at Netaji Sports Complex at Mayabunder is very small. Due to the lack of a proper playground, the local youths (school & college students) of our areas are far behind the youths of the other area in the field of sports. If this playground is developed it will benefit at least 04 to 05 panchayats.
