Port Blair, May 24: The counting of votes for A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency was nothing less than a nail-biting T20 match. With party workers of BJP and Congress, people of entire Andaman and Nicobar Islands were anxiously waiting for the final results yesterday, through social media and phone calls. Many did not believe, what was the final result, while many national media units carried news of Vishal Jolly winning the Andaman Seat.
Mr. Kuldeep Rai Shamra, in this fourth attempt, finally was able to crack the most important contest of this country and this success will be a very special one for his entire life.
Looking at the calculation after 12th round BJP was leading with 10,413 votes but after 13th round (which were votes of Part of Hut Bay, Car Nicobar) BJP’s lead was just 3,701. After 14th round (Nancowry & Campbell Bay- Kamorta , Katchal, Teressa, Chowra, Afra Bay, Pilopanja, Campbell Bay 1) Kuldeep was leading with 1042 votes and after 15th round ( Campbell bay- Campbell Bay 2, Govind nagar, Gandhi Nagar,Joginder Nagar Shompen Hut etc.) Kuldeep was finally leading with 1277 votes.
Meanwhile talking to Andaman Sheekha the spokesperson of BJP, Dr. Jijith Rekh said that BJP worked really hard in last five years. “The Party is upset because in certain areas, even after working hard, the voting was not as per our expectation. But we will continue our developmental works.” The hint was perhaps towards Nicobar Groups of Islands.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma told Andaman Sheekha that he will give his level best for the development of these Islands. Among priorities he talked about many burning issues with Andaman Sheekha, among them prime issues were solving the problem of water crisis in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, improving the Health Care facilities, improving Shipping Services etc.
Even though the win was very exciting, next five years will be very challenging for Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, considering the fact that BJP will rule Delhi. But as it is said that those who want to work for society, will definitely find a way, to do so.
