Port Blair, May 1: In a drive to keep our beaches clean and our Islands Plastic free, Government Secondary School Arong, along with the Education Officer, its staff, headmaster, SMC members along with students taking in with them the STS unit Car Nicobar, organised a drive to clean the Teetop Beach of Car Nicobar on 29th April.
At the beginning Mr. H Nathaniel Education Officer talked about the importance of cleanliness and to keep the Islands a plastic free zone. The Students were instructed to collect the plastic wastes and not to burn but to keep them in plastic disposal zone. The gathered plastic waste collected from the beach was about six gunny bags which were scattered on the beach for a long time. The beach cleaning was a part of the students’ study tour. The teachers briefed the students about green revolution and the importance of beaches.
Mid day meal was also served to the students after the beach cleaning activity. For their outstanding performance in State level Road Race and High Jump held at Netaji Stadium in January 2019, were felicitated with a new School uniform by Miss Jennifer D/o Shri. Wilfred Richfield, PST.
The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Gabriel, Headmaster GSS Arong.
