Port Blair, Apr 18: In a major bike accident which took place yesterday, two youths suffered grievous injuries after a racing bike, they were riding, skidded off the road, because of stone chips dumped roadside. The accident was reported from Rampur village of Karmatang area under Mayabander Tehsil. According to reports the bike was in high speed, which might be the reason behind the accident.
Sources said that Debashish Bonick, 23 years, suffered serious injuries and was later referred to G B Pant Hospital where he was admitted in Surgical ICU while Sumit Mahtu, 17 years, suffered fracture on both of his arms. There were three youths on the bike when the accident took place the third youth survived the accident with minor injuries.
Sources said that after the accident all three youths were lying on the road for a long time, later when some college students were crossing the area, they spotted these youths and shifted them to Mayabunder Hospital.
