Port Blair, Apr 12: Peaceful polling was held in these Islands for the lone Lok Sabha seat from the A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency yesterday but faults in EVMs and VVPAT slowed down the process a bit. However, till evening the overall poll percentage of A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency stood at 64.85%.
Polling was conducted in a peaceful and smooth manner throughout the Islands and there was no untoward incident reported from any part of the Islands.
Meanwhile, talking to Andaman Sheekha Mr. Udit Prakash Rai the Returning Officer of the A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency has expressed his gratitude towards public for showing enthusiasm towards voting, even till late evening.
He said that in some places voting happened till 9 to 10 PM. Regarding faulty EVMs and VVPAT he said all the faulty EVMs and VVPAT were replaced immediately.
Meanwhile, talking to Andaman Sheekha Mr. Vishal Jolly, the BJP Candidate of BJP congratulated the Election Commission, the Local Administration, all local officers, Police Department, general public and other departments for successful conduct of the election. He also congratulated all party workers for their contributions.
Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma also congratulated general public, local administration, Election Commission, police force and all departments for peaceful conduct of the election in very organized way. He also expressed gratitude towards party workers. Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma said that the polling percent was nearly 5.5 percent less this election compared to last elections and said that faulty EVMs were the reasons. He urged Election Commission to look into this issue in coming elections.
