Port Blair, Feb 24: The second edition of “Sail the Andamans”, Andaman Yacht Carnival was formally inaugurated today by Captain Ashutosh Pandey, Chief Port Administrator, Port Management Board in the presence of Mr. Girish Arora, President ACCI. The event has been organised ASI auditorium and sponsored by Andaman Holidays with the support of the Tourism Department, Andaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Port Management Board.
12 yachts with foreigners from across the world have sailed to Andamans on their yachts to participate in the month long event.
The event is organized with an aim to make Andamans as a not to miss cruising destination and to bring the Island into the yatching map of the world and bring economic benefits to our islands.
In his inaugural speech the CPA welcomed the visiting yatch-men to the country and the Islands and assured them of help to make their stay in their Islands memorable.
A fascinating cultural programme consisting of traditional dance was held for the entertainment of the guests which very much appreciated by all
It may be noted that just 0.7% of the yachts visiting Thailand are visiting Andamans. There is a huge scope for promoting yacht tourism in Andaman Islands.
