
Port Blair, Feb 17: The Port Blair Municipal Council is all set to install 26 water ATMs across Port Blair city to make sure availability of safe drinking water at minimum cost for Port Blarians.
As pilot project, one water ATM has already been installed in front of Indira Bhavan, PBMC office.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, The Secretary of PBMC Mr. Suneel Anchipaka said that the first water ATM was installed in the PBMC office and after witnessing the positive response from his staffs, the PBMC is now planning to install 26 such water ATMs in prime locations, which are frequented by large number if Public and tourists. He said that such water ATMs will also minimize use of plastic bottles.
“The project will be helpful towards providing clean and safe water to everyone at a cheaper price and it will also reduce the usage of plastic bottles which in-turn will reduce the amount of plastic in our surroundings,” the Secretary said.
