Campbell Bay, Feb 14: A Marathon was organised by the local Administration of Great Nicobar Island as part of International women’s Day celebration programs under the banner of Beti Bachao Beti Padao. The marathon started on 06.30 A.M. from Magar Nalla to the Mini Stadium Campbell Bay, total 39 participants participated in the marathon from different parts of Great Nicobar.
This event was organised to create awareness among the islanders about Beti Bachao Beti Padao, the administration also arranged the prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for both girls and the women’s which will be awarded to them on 08 March 2019 at International Women’s Day Celebration at Campbell Bay.
Winner’s of girls category are Ms Indraja, first , Ms Padma, second, Ms Pratibha Ekka, third and in Women’s group Smt. Nirmala Devi of Rajiv Nagar village stood first, Smt. Mariyam Minj of Govind Nagar came at second place and Smt. Sushma Kerketta of Rajiv Nagar came third.
While talking to Andaman Sheekha Ms Neelam Kumari District coordinator (MSK) DLCW said many more events are about to come as part of International Women’s Day celebration at Campbell Bay.
