Port Blair, Feb 11: Andaman and Nicobar Administration shall be holding Job Fair -2019 at DBRAIT auditorium from 15th to 17th February from 10 AM to 5 PM. As on date 09 major employers from mainland and 18 employers from Andaman and Nicobar Islands have confirmed 450-500 vacancies and more employers are likely to join.
A press conference was held at the conference hall of secretariat Port Blair yesterday, by the Secretary of Labour Employment and Education, Mr. Manikandan for the purpose of briefing the media in order to aware as many people as possible for the upcoming third Job Fair – 2019.
In his address Mr. Manikandan said that for the first time online registration has been started from 11th January 2019 with DBRAIT developing a portal for the purpose of online registration for the candidates interested.
Till date a total of 868 applicants have registered online. These registered candidates are also being extended with soft skill training at JNRM, ANCOL, DBRAIT, ITI and Mayabunder college.
Mr.Manikandan also shed light on the type of employers that will be featuring in the upcoming Job Fair, considerable amount of efforts has been made this time to rope in some big names from the corporate world like Rosset Hotels, Club Mahindra, Café Coffee Day, TATA steels, Birla Tyres, Sky pro and many more. This is the first time that companies from mainland are participating in the fair.
The Job fair first started in the year 2016 in order to provide the opportunities to the suitable and talented students of the islands and in the first edition a total of 183 candidates were successfully selected by the companies following in the year 2017 the numbers spiked up to 337 candidates.
At last the secretary also requested the media to help with the awareness of the islanders regarding the Job Fair -2019.
