Port Blair, Feb 12: There seems to be no end to problems being faced by residents in the Mayabunder.
Its more than a decade since N & M Andaman was declared as a new district and Mayabunder was declared the Head Quarter, but today while other places are witnessing fast development, the general public of Mayabunder are struggling for basic amenities such as Health, Power, BSNL Service, Boat Service, Development of Playground, LPG, Salary Hike of MGNREGA Labours, Issue of STS Bus Ticket Manually, Introducing Examination Centre for common Recruitment Exam, etc., it is felt.
The Former Pramukh of Panchyat Samity, Mayabunder, Mr. Abdul Siddique has taken up issues on behalf of General Public of Mayabunder, Pokadera, Rampur, Tugapur and Chainpur and nearby areas.
He highlighted some of the long pending major demands of the General Public of Mayabunder. This time Mr. Siddique has given an intimation letter to the Chief Secretary, A& N Administration, Port Blair, for organising Mass Dharna to press Long pending demands of Mayabunder.
General Public along with the Merchant Association, Jeep Association, Auto Rikshaw Union, Cargo Association, Ranchi Association, Danapur Shop Keepers etc have decided to go in for a peaceful mass agitation-cum-dharna in front of Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Mayabunder. The mass agitation-cum-dharna is planned on 21-02-2019 from morning 8.30 AM till evening.

“Second is LPG is a big issue for the people of Mayabunder. The ratio of cylinder supply is very meager when compared to the requirement of the people. A maximum of 200-250 cylinders arrive in a truck at a time which is very less compared to the consumers of this area. We request for regular supply of LPG in these areas along with LPG storage depot in Mayabunder,” Mr. Siddque said.
He added that Passenger Boat M.V.Coral Queen which used to ply from Port Blair Mayabunder twice a week was discontinued suddenly and instead of Coral Queen a boat without facility of bunk and Cabin is being sent to Mayabunder due to which General Public especially the old age and patients travelling to and fro are facing lots of problems, he said.
In his letter Mr. Abdul Siddque urged the Chief Secretary to take appropriate steps and resolve the issues on fast track manner.
