Port Blair, Feb 11: National Conference on “Recent Advances in Orchidology with special emphasis on Biology, Climate Change, Conservation and Commercialization of Floriculturally & Therapeutically important Taxa for the Welfare of Science and Society” will be conducted from 15th to 17th February, 2019 at ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.
Mr. Chetan B. Sanghi, IAS, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Port Blair & Chairman, HVADA will be Chief guest and Dr. T. Janakiram, ADG (Hort.), ICAR, New Delhi, Mr. Tarun Coomar IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Principal Secretary (Envt. & Forest), Port Blair, Mr. Krishan Kumar, Secretary, Agriculture & Co-Chair, HVADA will be the guests of honour.
Prof. (Dr.) A.K. Bhatnagar, President, TOSI, Prof. (Dr.) Promila Pathak, Secretary, TOSI & Convener cum Organizing Secretary, Dr. A. Kundu, Director (Acting) & Co-Convenor, ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair and Dr. Lal Ji Singh, Scientist In-charge, BSI and Co-Convenor, Local Organizing Committee will be present.
The academicians, researchers, industry personnel, non-government organizations, policy makers and students will be participating both from the mainland and the Island in the event to share the advancements in the science and technology. Beside Directors of the Development Departments and delegates of research fraternity of A & N Islands will also be participating in the conference.
The Conference cum Workshop will be inaugurated at 11.00 A.M. at the Dr. T.R. Dutta, conference hall of ICAR-CIARI on 15th February, 2019, which will be followed by the opening of Orchid exhibition at 12.00 noon at Garacharma research complex, as said in a press release by S.K.
