Port Blair, Jan.18: The Parliamentary Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution will be on a three day visit to the Islands from Jan.19. The Committee during their stay in the Islands will visit FCI Storage/ Warehousing, Fair Price Shops and Consumer Fora in the city. They will also hold discussion with the representatives of the Food Corporation of India (FCI), Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) regarding procurement, storage and distribution of food grains and computerization of Targeted Public Distribution System (TDPS) in the UT.
On Jan.21 the Committee will hold informal discussion with the Chief Secretary, UT Administration of A&N Islands regarding procurement, storage and distribution of food grains, computerization of Targeted Public Distribution (TDPS), programmes for consumer protection, regulation of packaged commodities, problem of supply and distribution of adult rated milk and measures taken to check it.
The Committee will also visit National Memorial, Cellular Jail and other places of tourist interest in and around the Islands. On completion of the visit the Committee will leave for mainland on Jan.22.
