Port Blair, Jan 14: A 20-year-old youth died after a scuffle between friends near Vijay Nagar area, Great Nicobar. The deceased was identified as Mr. Arjun Minj, a resident of 20 KM, Vijay Nagar, Great Nicobar.
As per reports, Arjun Minj, was consuming liquor with two other friends last night (intervening night between 13 and 14 January), when suddenly a scuffle broke out among them. During the scuffle one of the friends, Mr. Devsingh Ram, 39-year-old dominated and thrashed, Arjun Minj and the other friend Dev Sai. All three friends were farmers and labourers by profession.
Report said that Devsingh Ram hit Dev Sai with the handle of an axe, leaving Dev Sai heavily injured.
Later Dev Sai reportedly saw that Devsingh Ram attacked Arjun Minj with Axe and Machete over his face, ear and hand. It is believed that after the attack no one shifted the injured to hospital, as it was a remote area, which resulted in death of Arjun Minj due to excessive bledding.
Dev Sai who later ran away from the spot, reported this matter to Police Station this morning, after which, a team headed by SHO PS Campbell Bay, SI Vishal Ram reached the spot and recovered the body.
The team searched and traced out Devsingh Ram from sea shore area and was later arrested. The post mortem of the body will probably be carried out tomorrow.
