Port Blair, Jan 01: A fire was reported form a triple story house in Round Basti, Port Blair today at around 08.46 PM. Although fire was not visible to anyone but public could see thick smoke coming out of the house. Soon the matter was reported to Fire Brigade and immediately three fire tenders reached the spot and doused the fire.
Considering the heavy density of houses in round Basti area, such quick response of Fire Brigade was lauded by public, according to whom, the Fire Services today averted a major fire tragedy.
However, as per Fire Service sources the fire accident took place due to short circuit. The Fire Tenders also reportedly faced huge difficulty in entering Round Basti area due to illegal parking of vehicle on road, a serious issue, which was raised by Andaman Sheekha in several occasions in past.
