Port Blair, Dec 20: The National Cooperative Union of India, Cooperative Education Field Project (Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Department of Cooperation) A & N Island unit has organised a concluding programme for 20 days long duration training on “Soft Toy marking” at Sangeeta Tailoring and Fashion Designing Institute, Garacharma today (20.12.2018). Dr. Nagesh Ram, Senior Scientist, Head Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Port Blair was the chief guest on the occasion. While addressing the assemblage, the chief guest has said that the women folk have the power to build our society in as much as in the present days they are equally contributing effort in developing our country. Most of the self help group are formed by the women in A & N Islands, therefore they are shoal designing the onus of improving socio-economics condition of glass root level of our society. Dr. Nagesh Ram also appreciated the efforts of National Cooperative Union of India, Cooperative Education Field Project, A & N Island unit for organising such meaningful training courses for ultimate benefit of women folk/members of self help group.
Welcoming the gathering Mr. Surendra Nath Singh, Project Officer, National Cooperative Union of India, Cooperative Education Field Project, A & N Island unit has said that the concept of self help group is munch powerful as women folk get opportunity to work together by sharing their ideas and skill to achieve the ultimate target of economic liberation. He further informed that the NCUI-CEFP has been promoted 500 self help group so far with 5500 members. The rural women members are fully engaged in various income generating activities after taking financial assistance through banks which helps them for socio-economic upliftment. Trainees of the course were also shared the experiences on the occasions. Product prepared by the women members of SHG were also displayed in the programme, 25 womens members of SHGs has successfully completed the training courses.
