Port Blair, July 29: The Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM, Lt. Governor,A & NIslandsin a meeting held on 28 July 2012 with PRI members in the conference hall of Raj Niwas directed the authorities to immediately address certain structural problems being faced by the PRIs to avoid any delay in execution of their works. He directed a time frame for various activities for proper and transparent utilisation of funds and completion of works in a time bound manner in rural areas.
He also directed that NOCs from the Revenue Department would be given to PRIs within 15 days failing which it will deemed to have been received and PRIs will go ahead and execute the works. Appreciating the functioning of the PRIs in the Islands, the Lt. Governor also directed the involvement of PRIs in developmental works particularly in the tourism sector for holistic development of tourism in the Islands.
The Chief Secretary, Zilla Parishad Adyakshs of South Andaman and North & Middle Andaman and Pramukhs of Panchayat Samiti, Prothrapur, Ferrargunj, Diglipur, Mayabunder, Rangat,CampbellBayandHutBaywere present in the meeting along with other senior officers of the administration.
