He said that the Bank is planning to open branches in 12 major cities across India like Chennai, Madurai, Trivandrum, Cochin, Vishakapattanam, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, Patna, Lucknow, Mumbai etc.
He added that in 2018 the bank has touched the Rs. 1500 crore turnover mark and by 2022 the bank is planning to touch Rs. 10,000 crore mark.
He said that besides banking, ANSCB’s main focus is socio-economic development of these Islands by supporting various self help groups, youths in tourism sectors and local entrepreneurs. He said that despite all odds the ANSCB is having core banking in all its 41 branches in A & N Islands.
Today’s programme was organized by ANSCB to honour the selfless & remarkable contributions of local journalists in the field of journalism & to pay our heartiest tributes to every single media worker for articulating the sole aim of socio-economic development of islands by comprehending service to the humanity.
Earlier, Mr. K Murugan, MD Of ANSCB welcomed the gathering and said that media being the fourth pillar of the society plays a pivotal role in exposing things which are true and creating public Awareness against social evils and other unhealthy practices in the modern society.
Expressing gratitude to the ANSCB for the gesture of felicitating local media persons, Mr. Sanjib Kumar Roy, the General Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Media Federation (ANMF) said that media in Andaman plays the role of opposition too, in absence of a democratic set up. “It is the media, which highlights problems of common man and takes up their issues and all local media houses do their best in this regard. Little appreciation serves as major encouragement for media persons, who are doing a thankless job,” he said. Mr. Roy added that ANSCB has not only done well in last few years but also has always stood behind local media units.
