Port Blair, Nov 14: The Lt. Governor of A&N Islands, Admiral D K Joshi, (Retd.) today said that as on date the Administration does not have any confirmation about Prime Minister’s visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
While replying to a question whether the PM will lay foundation of Chatham-Bambooflat bridge, the Lt. Governor said that as Lt. Governor he did not ever mention in any forum that the Prime Minister is going to visit these Islands. “Then how can I tell you when PM will lay foundation of the bridge,” he said.
However the Lt. Governor said that he has personally gone and met Prime Minister and both verbally and in written he has extended invitation to the Prime Minister, whenever he met him in past.
“He has expressed very keen desired to visit the Islands. He is greatly infused with the idea. But we do not have a formal acceptance as on date. We are very hopeful that this acceptation will come. All our preparations are aligned as if honorable PM is visiting us. But as on date we have no confirmation or acceptance of the invitation,” he said.
However, insiders told Andaman Sheekha that security agencies have already received directions in this regard and hence all security agencies are busy in their own arrangements. Political parties have already issued press releases with their demands to be considered during PM visit. Clearly there is no doubt that Andaman is getting ready for the big day and hopefully Administration will get the official confirmation soon.
