Baratang, Nov 06: In a major development the State Transport Services has started bus service for remote Rajat Garh village (also known as Kattan village) of Baratang region since 29 October 2018. In the history of 50 years of settlement of the village, this is the first time when any bus is connecting the remote village, nearly 11 km away from Oralkatcha area of Baratang. This move of STS has brought a great relief for the people living in the remote village, especially the school students.
It is learnt that the bus service was possible due to constant pressure created by the Zilla Parishad Member of Baratang, Mr. Alagar Swami and other PRI members of the area. The road upto Rajat Garh village, which was with Zilla Parishad was recently completed.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the Zilla Parishad member of Baratang, Mr. Alagar Swami expressed his gratitude towards the Administration, the Director of Transport Department, Mr. Navlendra Singh, the AE Transport of Rangat and the STS unit of Baratang for starting this bus service.
Mr. Alagar Swami further said that the road from Rajat Garh to the most remotest villages, like Wrafters Creek and Khatta Khadi, nearly 5 KM more from Rajat Garh, is with APWD and the contractors have started the road construction work. “Once the road upto Wrafters Creek and Khatta Khadi is completed, we expect that the Bus Service of STS will connect those remotest villages too, which will be another major achievement of Transport Department,” he said.
