Port Blair, Oct 30: A team of Police Station Aberdeen has solved a theft case and arrested one person namely Shakeer K.S. from Kannur District, Kerala and recovered the stolen ATM card which was used to withdraw around Rs 5 Lakh illegally.
On 21/04/2018 a complaint received at PS Aberdeen from one Mr. Mashooq Ali Sah R/o Mohanpura regarding theft of his ATM card and while checking the bank statement, he realized that someone has withdrawn around Rs. 4,67,000 rupees from his account unauthorizedly. He told that one of his Manager has been missing since December 2017 and he suspect that he might have stolen his debit card and done the transactions.
Soon the suspects were kept under police surveillance and as much possible details were collected about him. He was found to be working in some other hotels as well in Port Blair. The suspect tried to mislead the police team by travelling to North India and North East India, however, he left his digital footprints at his home town at Kerala.
Accordingly a team comprising SI Usman Ali, PC Uttam Das and PC Abdul Basheer was formed and sent to Kerala for apprehending the suspected person.
On 09.10.2018, after extensive efforts, the team of PS Aberdeen succeeded in locating the accused person Shakeer K.S s/o Late Moideen at his home town at Kannur District, Kerala, who accepted his guilt that in the month of December 2017 he stole the ATM Card of Mr. Mashooq Ali, while working in his Hotel and left Port Blair. On 15.10.2018, he was brought to Port Blair and produced before the Court, from where he was sent to judicial custody remand for 14 days.
The entire operation took place under the supervision of SDPO (SA) Mr. Nishant Gupta assisted by Insp. A. K. Singh, SHO PS Aberdeen.
