Port Blair, July 23: Dr Syeda Hameed, Hon’ble Member of Planning Commission is on a three days official visit to the islands. Immediately after arrival Dr Syeda Hameed, Hon’ble Member of Planning Commission accompanied by Smt Vandana Kumari Jena, Sr. Advisor and Dr Arvind Modi, Consultant, Planning Commission had detailed discussions in the conference hall of Raj Niwas on various issues relating to the Islands. Hon’ble Member of Planning Commission was apprised and updated on important issues relevant for the growth and development of the islands. Having already visited the remote interiors of the islands in the past few years she is quite familiar with the issues of the islands. Dr Syeda Hameed assured of all possible help of the Planning Commission in resolving these issues. A presentation of proposed terminal building of the Veer Savarkar International Airport was also given by Shri V.P. Agrawal, Chairman, Airport Authority of India. Chief Secretary, Chief of Staff and other senior civil and defence officers were also present on the occasion.
