Port Blair, Oct 29: Finally after several months of suffering terrible nightmares by ATR commuters, the Contractors of NHIDCL has started road laying works from Sippighat to Lalpahar area (21 KM to 28 KM).
Between Chidiyatapu and Ferrargunj, this road stretch of ATR was in most horrible condition giving difficult times to commuters. ATR commuters, vehicle owners, tour operators and other Islanders were badly waiting for this work to begin and circulation of photographs regarding beginning of this work, in social media, brought a great sense of relief for everyone.
People however complaint that the road from Ferrargunj to Jirkatang check-post and Nilambur Jetty of Baratang to Rangat are also in horrible shape and the NHIDCL must repair the said stretch at the earliest for the convenience of ATR users, especially medical patients and elders.
Bad road will certainly play a big role in 2019 Lok Sabha elections and many believe that all the sufferings of public because of these bad roads will reflect in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
