Port Blair, October 26: Dozens of parents and relatives of special children today staged protest at the office of Social Welfare Department against removal of Mr. R Sabapathy (physiotherapist) from Vocational Rehabilitation Centre, Brooksabad, Port Blair.
Parents claimed that false allegations have been leveled against Mr. R Sabapathy by the authorities with an intension to remove him from the job for which now the children of special needs, are suffering.
“We have no other way than to come here and protest. Hope the Lt. Governor and Chief Secretary will atleast hear the voice of special children,” said a parent.
The parents alleged that there is a total mismanagement in Vocational Rehabilitation Centre, Brooksabad, Port Blair for which the inmates are suffering a lot. Many parents claimed that they are regularly harassed by the authorities, for which some parents have boycotted the service of the VRC.
According to parents Mr. R Sabapathy (physiotherapist) was rendering very dedicated service to the children of special needs but now he has also been removed, leaving Divyang children on crossroad.
Parents demanded immediate inquiry on the entire issue to find out why no qualified staffs sent to Vocational Rehabilitation Centre, Brooksabad, Port Blair are leaving one by one.
