Port Blair, Sept 30: A sendoff meeting was organised by Andaman and Nicobar Rowing Association Port Blair for giving best wishes to Andaman and Nicobar Junior Rowing team as they are proceeding for participating in the forthcoming 39th junior national Rowing championship for boys and girls under the flag of Rowing federation of India (RFI), scheduled to be held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh from 2nd to 7th October, 2018.
Earlier nine member junior Rowing team is selected by Andaman and Nicobar Rowing Association Port Blair. The association written a letter to the Joint Secretary, State Sports Council, Port Blair for providing sports kits and neither financial assistance for this Championship but unfortunately neither the sports Department nor the A & N administration comes up with any assistance whatsoever.
The president of Andaman and Nicobar Rowing Association Port Blair Mr.G.Bhaskar came forward to help the team and apart from his personnel involvement he provided all the funds required by the team to participate in the tournament even the expense of air tickets also borne by him. It is worth mentioning here that Mr.G.Bhaskar have been supporting several other games in this Islands by providing financial and moral support since last many years .Hopefully our Administration will take some inspiration from person like Mr.G.Bhaskar to promote sports in these Islands.
