Port Blair, July 19: Consequent upon the declaration of Govt. Boys Sr. Secondary School as a Heritage School, the Lt. Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM visited the school campus on 19th July 2012 accompanied by the Chief Secretary and other senior officers of the A&N Administration as well as Dr. Rohinder Lall, Member Advisory Committee on Historical and Cultural Heritage of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
After spot inspection of the entire campus, the Lt Governor directed the Education department to make a master plan for improvement/restoration of the campus by constructing a museum for the school, a multi-purpose hall, construction of boys’ hostel and development of the open space in front of the school into a playground in a time bound manner.
Further, the Lt Governor while appreciating the infrastructure of Tagore Govt. College of Education directed that its existing auditorium should be utilized by both the institutions in a harmonious manner. He also directed that construction of Boys hostel be taken on priority.
