Port Blair, Aug 05: Yesterday the TMC state delegation comprising Mr Ayan Mondal (working President), Mr Sheikh Umran (Organizing Secretary) and other dignitaries met the Minister for Transport and Environment for the government of West Bengal and The Chairman Haldia Port Development Corporation Mr. Suvendu Adhikari and discussed the campaign strategy for the upcoming 2019 elections.
Trinamool committee ANI got requests from many Islanders to arrange a visit of Mr. Suvendu Adhikari to these Islands. Yesterday, TMC delegation invited the Minister to these Islands and the minister promised to visit these Islands soon. He is credited as the man who galvanized the people of Nandigram under the umbrella of the Bhumi Uchhed Pratirodh Committee, when rumors of land acquisition for a chemical hub had triggered a movement; Suvendu Adhikari was a member of the Legislative Assembly from Contai. Suvendu defeated CPI(M)’s strongman Lakshman Seth, who led the charge in recapturing the villages from Trinamool Congress.
