Port Blair, July 29: The PCC President Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the issue of payment of Property tax by the residents of Port Blair before 31/07/2018 with the Secretary, Port Blair Municipal Council. In his letter the PCC President said that the Port Blair Municipal Council implemented the revised method of Property Tax w.e.f 01.04.2017 and a special rebate of 10% is allowed for payment of property tax for the year 2018-19 on or before 31/07/2018.
Mr. Kuldeep pointed out that the academic year 2018-19 has already been commenced and admission in different colleges in these islands as well as in mainland for higher studies is under process. The general public are facing much financial stringency owing to the expenditure on schooling and admission of their children for higher studies in various colleges in mainland.
Resultantly majority of property tax payers of Port Blair are facing problem to pay the Property tax before 31/07/2018 for availing the rebate of 10%.
Mr. Kuldeep requested the Municipal Council that the last date for availing the rebate of 10% on payment of Property tax be extended for a further period of three month in larger interest of general public of Port Blair.
