Port Blair, July 23: India Post is organising Dhai Akhar National Level Letter Writing Campaign for the year 2018-19, to promote the art of letter writing in the country. The theme/topic of the Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Campaign is “Letter to my motherland” inspired by Rabindranath Tagore’s “Amar Desher Mati”. The residents of the Isles who are willing to participate may send their respective handwritten letters in English/Hindi/Local language to “The Chief Post Master General, West Bengal Circle, Yogayog Bhawan, Kolkata 700012”.
The letter can be written on plain A-4 size paper with a word limit of not more than 1000 words under envelope category, or in an Inland Letter Card (ILC) with a word limit of not more than 500 words. The embossed envelope / envelope with required stamp affixed and Inland Letter Card (ILC) will be the permitted stationery for participating in the campaign.
There are two categories for National Level Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Campaign. First Category – Persons up to 18 years of age, they can participate under both Inland Letter Card Category and Envelope Category. Second Category -Persons above 18 years of age, they can also participate under both Inland Letter Card Category and Envelope Category.
The last Date for posting letters under Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Campaign is September 30, 2018. The letters may be posted in a specially designated letter box placed at the Post Office with marking “Letter Writing Campaign”. The participants have to give a certificate of proof of their age on the letter such as “I certify that I am Below/above the age of 18 as on 01/01/2018”.
The proposed prize money to be given to the winners of National Level and Circle Level Letters in each category is as follows –
For winners of National Level, the First, Second and Third Prizes would be Rs. 50,000, Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively.
For winners of Circle Level the First, Second and Third Prizes would be Rs. 25,000, Rs. 10,000, and Rs. 5,000 respectively.
A scanned copy of the letter can also be submitted on the MyGov portal www.mygov.in latest by 30th September, 2018. However, it is compulsory that hard copy of the letter bearing dispatch from Post Office of not later than 30th September be sent by post.
