Port Blair, July 16: The newly inducted Six (6) Nos. of Fire Water Tenders were flagged off during a public awareness programme by Fire Service of A&N Police. Shri. Dependra Pathak, IPS, Director General of Police, A&N Islands was the Chief Guest during the function. The function started with Guard of Honour to the chief guest followed by welcome address by Smti. Amrutha Guguloth, IPS, SP (Fire).
In her welcome address, she welcomed everyone and gave brief introduction about the Fire Service Unit. She highlighted the achievements of Fire Service and informed that Fire Service is conducting Fire Safety Audit of all commercial buildings and providing training for the safety of general public and requested everyone to get their buildings audited and attend the training course on first aid and basic fire fighting measures.
A Nukad Nattak was performed on the theme of Fire Safety by Police Entertainment Team followed by a hands-on live demonstration of fire extinguishers of various classes of fire.
The DGP, A & N Islands, in his address, congratulated the Fire Service for organizing an impressive awareness programme and stated that such programmes will have a positive impact on all present. He further informed that the fire vehicles and equipments available with Fire Service are of world class and Fire Service is professionally competent to meet any eventualities. He advised School students to have better understanding of language and to inculcate interactive and collective learning.
The programme, attended by all the senior Police officers, PRI members, media personnel, general public and students, was concluded by flagging off the newly inducted Water Tenders by the Chief Guest.
