Port Blair, July 01: Andaman Sheekha and many other local media units have recently reported about incidents in which members of Jarawa Tribes are threatening and stopping vehicles inside Jarawa Tribal Reserve area of ATR, and looting passengers.
In past, several such incidents have been reported from ATR but till now the Administration has not taken any visible step. Adding to the plight now children of Jarawa Tribes are also seen on ATR, stopping vehicles and demanding money and food.
Andaman Sheekha today witnessed that atleast in three areas in ATR Jarawa Tribes stopped vehicles of last ATR convoy in order to ask money or loot vehicles.
The problem is that now a days Jarawa people come right in the middle of road to stop vehicles and in such scenario if any vehicle stops, they will face case under PAT regulation and if any driver hits any Jarawa Tribe again they will face case under PAT regulation.
Considering the seriousness of this issue the Administration should either increase the number of AAJVS personnel inside Tribal Belt of ATR or double the number of police guards in each convoy for the safety of Jarawa Tribes and public.
