Port Blair, May 18: While Ferrargunj is perhaps the first panchayat to impose tax on every vehicle passing through its area (Jirkatang) in name of Swachh Bharat but still one can see that Swachh Bharat is a distant dream for the Panchayat to achieve. Earlier when Andaman Sheekha had contacted to Pradhan called the pradhan of Ferrargunj to know the reason behind such unjustified tax, he told Andaman Sheekha that the money will be used to clean the area and make additional parking area. Sadly neither Jirkatang became clean nor there are additional parking areas. Adding to plight Jirkatan has become the only area in Andaman where one can see, hundreds of people peeing in public during every convoy, due to insufficient number of toilet blocks. Hope the Chief Secretary will find some time to visit the area and see the ground conditions himself.
