Port Blair, May 17: The lone Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray today demanded for additional Andaman Guest House in New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and new Guest House at Vishakhapatnam. He also demanded extension of the period of stay for Medical patients.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Ray said that it has been brought to his notice that there is a huge demand for rooms in Andaman Guest House in New Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata.
“The passengers, medical refer cases, higher education seeking students, Govt Servants on duty, sports persons and tribal population of this UT Islands need guest house near Airports in Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata,” he added and mentioned that in Vishakhapatnam, there is no Andaman Guest House despite the operation of airlines and shipping service for Vishakhapatnam from Port Blair.
“The Islanders especially the Telugu community will definitely reap its benefits. Furthermore, the rule of restriction in occupation of room for merely 03 days to individual who are under treatment is also needs to be revised at Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata considering the seriousness of medical cases,” the MP said.
The MP also demanded online booking system in Delhi and Kolkata’s Andaman Guest Houses, as is being done in case of Chennai Guest House for better accessibility and transparency in the process.
