Port Blair, May 06: The Police Control Room number is the first thing which people think to dial during any emergency or threat but in Andaman the Police’s Control Room Number has become inaccessible to general public, these days.
After receiving a few complaints from public Andaman Sheekha tried to dial the Police Control Room Number 232100 in the afternoon on Saturday but sadly for nearly 30 minutes the 232100 number was engaged.
In normal cases, every call coming to main number of any control room is first diverted in other number so that the main number becomes free for other callers but sadly in Police Control Room no such facility is available, it seems.
Finally Andaman Sheekha dialed 234472 the police exchanged and got the number of Police Control Room immediately through the police exchanged.
When questioned the staffs present at the Police Control Room said that this is not the first time they are getting such complaint of phone remaining busy for long hours. Staff at Police exchange told Andaman Sheekha that the Police exchange staffs had called technicians from BSNL and Airtel to solve the problem but the problem could not be solved.
According to Police Control Room if any one calls Police Control Room and does not disconnect the call for any reason, the number remain engaged for others, even if the call is disconnected from Police Control Room, which is a major technical issue.
Whatever might be the reason, the police department must hire best technicians and solve the problem immediately as if tomorrow there is a murder in broad day light or a bomb blast, one can’t wait for 30 to 40 minutes for police help.
Police Control Plays a very important role between public and police department and hence the Police Department must ensure that the police control number is accessible to everyone all the time.
