Diglipur, April 16: The Forest Department after reviewing the situation regarding Crocodile sighting at Ross & Smith Islands on 14 April, decided to re-open Ross and Smith Islands for the tourists from 15 April.
The Fibre boats were allowed during the high tides with a restriction for tourists from entering into water. Forest Department has meanwhile, deployed additional staffs for the safety of tourist for next one week, DFO, Diglipur, Mr. Anisha Kalkoor said.
The Boat services to Ross and Smith Islands were suspended from since 10 due to sighting of crocodile at Ross & Smith Islands.
There was a death in Ross and Smith Island Last year (Tourist from Tamil Nadu Died) due to drowning in the sea.
But still no safe swimming zone is made in ross & smith. but at all other beaches Safe swimming zone is made (Jolly Bouy, Carbyn’s Cove, Chidiyatapu, wandoor).
Till Crocodile sighting entry in water was allowed without considering the death of tourist and without safe swimming zone.
