Port Blair, Apr 04: A Golden Jubilee Year Seminar at National Level on Role of Commerce Education in the Economic Development of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been organized by the Post Graduate Department of Commerce JNRM, Port Blair today 04th April, 2018 at 1000 Hrs in the College Auditorium. Professor Dr. Chandra Das Former HOD of commerce (1976-80), Govt. College, Port Blair was the Chief Guest. Mr. Mohammed H Jatwed, Ex President of Andaman Chamber of Commerce, Mr. T S G Bashker, Managing Director of the TSG Hotels and Resorts were the Guests of Honors. Learned academicians, Principal Andaman Law College, Accounts officers, Chartered Accountants, the First 1975-78. Batch of B.Com Students namely Mr. Anoop Kumar Arora, Prop. Hotel Mainak, Mr. Saran Kumar Nanda, Prop. Agency House, Mr. Sanjay Choudhry, Prop. Ripple Resort, Mr. Abdul Sathar, Partner, M A Mohamed & Sons, the present B.Com, M.Com, ICMA, ICS students and the JNRM Alumni members have attended the Seminar. The Guests of Honor Mr. Mr. Mohammed H Jatwed and Mr. Mr. T S G Bashker have explained the importance of the commerce education and the need of the commerce graduates in the present days scenario of GST. . Mr. Anoop Kumar Arora, Mr. Saran Kumar Nanda,, Mr. Sanjay Choudhry and Mr. Abdul Sathar have discussed about the importance of the Commerce Department in the JNRM and its role in the development of Business Sector. They have explained the different ways the department of Commerce has been helping the Business sector of the A & N Islands. Dr. N. Rajavel, the present Head of Post Graduate Department of Commerce, JNRM submitted his research analysation on the role of commerce education in the economic development of A & N islands by explaining clearly what is education, what is Higher Education, What is commerce education, What are commerce Education and their role in each and every sector of the economy including the Agricultural Sector, Business Sector, Trade Sector, Commerce Sector, Industry Sector and Tourism Sector. He has narrated the achievements of the Commerce department of the JNRM in the A & N islands. Professor Chandra Das, the Chief Guest discussed about the establishment of the commerce department during the year 1975-76 and his experiences with the students of the Commerce Department and its need on those period.
Earlier, Dr. N. Francis Xavier, the Principal, JNRM, has welcomed the gatherings. While welcoming the gatherings, he praised and greeted the commerce department for its excellent contributions to the development of these islands. He congratulated the students of commerce department who have secured 100 out of 100 marks in subjects. The programme was started with the welcome dances performed by B.Com Girls Students and Golden Jubilee Year JNRM Anthem. All the participants have enthusiastically participated in the discussion. The vote of thanks has been proposed by Dr. K Rajmohan, a senior faculty of commerce department. The whole programme has been coordinated by Miss Gowri and Mrs. Nilima Rari Faculties of Commerce Department.
