Port Blair, March 15: A meeting of Local Merchant Navy Officers with the authorities of Shipping Corporation of India that was conducted today in the premises of SCI yielded no result.
The team of Local Merchant Navy Officers has now decided to organize a protest rally towards Raj Niwas on 20th March, 2018 from BMS office Middle Point if their demands are not fulfilled.
Local Merchant Navy Officers allege that the SCI is giving preference to mainland based Merchant Navy Officers for job in these islands that too by outsourcing a Company, when already there are dozens of Local Merchant Navy Officers are available in these islands, who are waiting for job.
Dozens of Local Merchant Navy Officers are protesting since yesterday outside the SCI office, Andaman Nicobar Islands against this attitude of the SCI.
