Port Blair, Feb 22: Frustrated over insufficient lecturers in the BSc Psychology Department of Andaman College and getting zero response from the college administration, the students of BSc Psychology staged protest in front of the College this morning since 08:00am.
Around 30 students of BSc Psychology participated in the protest. Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the student of BSc Psychology said that the semester is going to finish but even after repeated demands, the college administration, till now is running the aforesaid department with only two lecturers and all other lecturers are from different departments.
“BSc Psychology Department requires 07 lecturers but as we don’t have the same our department is running at the mercy of God, our practical which is one of the important parts of BSc Psychology, was organized just for name sake,” alleged a student of BSc Psychology, ANCOL, on the condition of anonymity.
Andaman Sheekha has learnt that the student of BSc Psychology has already submitted a letter to the College Administration as well as the Chief Secretary, Andaman Nicobar Administration about the problems they are going through because of lack of faculties in their department but all request have fallen deaf ears, forcing the students to stage this protest.
As per reports, later in the afternoon the Sub Divisional Magistrate came to the spot to solve the issue but the SDM also went back without giving any assurance to the Students.
“We are going to continue the protest even tomorrow and we will continue it till our demands are not fulfilled,” said a protesting student.
