Billyground, Feb 08: The Panchayat Samiti Member of Basantipur, Mr. Bhasker Bagchi and two others have been arrested by police today under the prevention of damage to public property audience.
As per reports, Mr. Bhasker Bagchi along with his friends had yesterday demolished some part of the CC wall of Basantipur vegetable market without the consent of the Pradhan. For this act they had also not taken any approval from Gram Sabha.
When the Pradhan and other PRI members reportedly objected, Mr. Bhasker Bagchi and his friends allegedly behaved rudely with the Pradhan, following which the Pradhan of Basantipur, Mrs. Sebastian Lakra lodged a police complaint.
Soon the accused were arrested and later produced before the court. It is learnt that both Pradhan and Panchayat Samiti Member are from BJP party.
