Campbell Bay, Jan 31: The last working day is considered to be the happiest day of the entire month for the Government as well as Private Employees but today Jan 31, 2018, the last working day of this month brought disappointment for many of the Government servants of Great Nicobar, as they did not receive their salary today.
As per reports, as the Assistant Commissioner, Great Nicobar was on leave and also out of station the salary to the employees of many Government Departments of Great Nicobar Island, was not dispatched.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, a Government employee of the area said in case of anonymity that getting salary late is not a big issue for high ranked government servants but for lower ranked people, who have a big family to support and who have to pay monthly dues in various shops and other bills, even one day delay crashed family’s monthly budget.
“If the senior officer would have given charge to a similar cadre officer, well in advance, we would have received our salary today itself, now God knows how long we have to wait to receive own salary,” another Government employee added.
Not only this most of the other works like revenue works, issue of tribal passes etc remain pending today in Great Nicobar Island as the AC of the island is out of station.
However, when Andaman Sheekha contacted a senior officer of Great Nicobar Island he said that the Assistant Commissioner has given his charge to the Assistant Commissioner Nancowry, as per the orders of the Secretariat but it takes time for AC Nancowry to reach Great Nicobar and sign papers.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Vice President, BJP and also the resident of Campbell Bay, Mr Sanjay Kumar Singh said that due to lack of attention of the Andaman Administration towards the residents of the Great Nicobar Islands, these sort of issues are coming up.
He further demanded the top officials of Andaman Nicobar Administration to at least replace the AC or order the AC to duly give his charge to another same cadre officer so that no works in his absence is hampered.
