Port Blair, Jan 30: The Rotary Club of Port Blair in association with the Coastal Green Zone- CGZ (a voluntary run initiative to conserve coastal ecosystem) held one Exhibition cum Sit and Draw Competition for the students of the Navy Children School, Minnybay.
This is their launch of this moving exhibition and they will be visiting more schools of Port Blair and other parts of the Islands.
During this program, a art exhibition was showcased in the school premises followed by VDO presentation related to the environment. The art work exhibited were created by the school children of other schools around the Islands during field trips with CGZ. Such field trips for the school children to study the coastal environment and ecosystem had been consistently held by the CGZ throughout the North, Middle and South Andaman during the past 10 years.
Rotary Club of Port Blair joined hands with the CGZ to educate the youths and children about the importance of our environment and coastal ecosystem. The purpose is to motivate and sensitize the young minds to think about these subjects and how they impact our lives.
The program at the NCS was inaugurated by Lt. Cdr. Pushpanjali Yadav, Director, NCS (PBR).
The Sit and Draw Competition was for classes VI to VIII in which about 50 students participated. The art work by the students were judged by eminent female artists of the islands, Mrs. Pallavi Gupta and Mrs. Neha Bajaj who were also the special invitees for this event. The top 10 students were given away Prizes and Certificates.
Mrs. Anita Devi, Principal, NCS (PBR) thanked the Rotary Club of Port Blair and CGZ for choosing their school to launch such a meaningful program.
Rotary Club President, Rtn. Srawan Agarwala also thanked the entire staff of NCS, Port Blair for the successful launch of this program which has been nicknamed “Hamjoli”.
The program ended with distribution of Registration Forms for the field trips for students. These forms will be sent back by the students to the Rotary Club of Port Blair office. In the near future the registered students will be taken on a field trip to study the coastal ecosystem which will provide them a better understanding of the topic.
