Port Blair, January 25: Safety of public on the South Creek road during night has become a major concern as for nearly 2 KM upto the PHC Baratang, there is no street light along the Andaman Trunk Road stretch, which passed through the village.
Villagers say that in crucial road like ATR, which is a National Highway, Street Lights are must and lack of lights may cause a fatal accident anytime.
When Contacted the Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Sundergarh, Mr. Biju Gurudasan said that due to the negligence of the Panchayat secretary, the AMC of the area was done only last month.
Mr. Biju Gurudasan also said that nearly 300 LED Street lights are required for Sundergarh Village but due to lack of proper funding by the administration, it is difficult to purchase street lights for the village.
“Situation is so bad that even for Republic Day sweets, we are paying the money from our pocket,” said Mr. Gurudasan.
