Port Blair, Jan 23: The Workers of Consumer Co-operative Society posted at Brookshabad, Port Blair under the banner of Upboktha Bandar Karamchari Sangh, Andaman & Nicobar Island affiliated by BMS on 21st January held a protest against the Consumer Co-operative Society after they were transferred by the CCS with allegation of black marketing of LPG Cylinders.
The workers of the CCS alleged that the superiors of the CCS have accused them of black-marketing of LPG Cylinders and had mentioned this as the reason behind the transfer, which they don’t accept.
“With full honesty we are working for the CCS since years and how can the superiors put such kind of allegations on us without any proof and harass us by transferring,” questioned a worker.
However after 4-6 hours long protest the Secretary as well as the Chairman CCS came to the spot and clarified the workers that they were mistaken and also cancelled their transfer orders following which the workers resumed their work.
The CCS Unit Brookshabad has stopped issuing LPG Cylinders to customers following alleged black-marketing reports and because of this the customers of Austinabad, Garacharma, Birchgunj, Birdline, Bhathubasthi, Chakkargaon, Pahargaon etc areas are facing enormous trouble to get LPG Cylinders on time.
The most difficult part is that now residents of these areas have to go till Haddo to get a LPG Cylinder which earlier they used to get from nearby Brookshabad CCS unit itself.
“Now to get a Cylinder we have to take a holiday for a day and have to go till Dilanipur spending extra amount for fuel etc to get a LPG Cylinder, on one hand the government is trying to make things easier for the general public but here on the other hand it seems that CCS wants to make things difficult for us. Hope the administration comes forward to save us from CCS,” said Mr VC Rao, a resident of Birdline.
