Port Blair, July 02: The Commissioner- Cum- Secretary (Higher Education) Mr. Bhupinder Singh Bhalla today said that the final decision regarding withdrawal of science stream from GSSS Port Mout and GSSS R K Pur will be taken within a day or two by the Administration.
The recent decision of A & N Administration to withdraw science stream from GSSS Port Mout and GSSS RK Pur of Little Andaman has opened a can of worms in these Islands. The Education Department witnessed unprecedented opposition from public and students of South Andaman region, forcing the Administration to rethink into this matter.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the Commissioner- cum – Secretary said that no decision has been taken yet in this regard and the Administration is trying to see whether there is any other option.
He said that the Administration wanted to open Science Streams in Gol Tirky (Kamorta) and Havelock Islands by withdrawing science streams from these two schools.
“Entire Nancowrie Group as well as Neil and Havelock Island do not have science stream, that’s why we had thought to open science stream in Gol Tirky and Havelock by withdrawing the same from here but people are not happy with it,” he added.
However, he made it clear that in any case, Havelock and Gol Tirky will surely get science stream.
Meanwhile, the public of Port Mout, R K Pur and the Member of Parliament have already declared that if science stream is not restored in the GSSS Port Mout and RK Pur by July 5, 2012, they would gherao the Raj Niwas.
