Port Blair, Jan 10: A press release issued by the Electricity Department on 9 January 2018 announced that the power cut timing has been reduced to one hour but to the utter dismay, most of the parts of South Andaman today witnessed power cut of One hour and 15 minutes.
When contacted the staffs of Phoenix Bay Power house said that they have no idea of any reduction in Power cut timing and there would be a power cut for one hour and fifteen minutes.
Other than this, there were multiple power cuts in day time for which no schedule has been released yet by the Electricity Department.
Sadly while with time, the power generation of Administration should have increased, this is surprising that in Andaman the power generation is decreasing day by day. Most of the DG sets are giving very less output than its actual capacity, which is one of the biggest reasons for this power crisis.
There is a need to post a well experience Executive Engineer to the office of EE, Power Generation so that this problem can be sorted out easily. The present set up in EE Power Generation has not only failed the entire department but also brought darkness to entire South Andaman region.
One question that for how many years non performing officer will be kept posted to the post of EE, Power Generation and why.
Public wonders why there is a need for the Electricity Department to give false assurances to public about power cut when everyone knows there is a crisis. Is it to keep public anger under control or to mislead top officers of Administration?
