Port Blair, July 01: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President INTUC along with a delegation called on the Chief Engineer, APWD on 29.06.2012 to discuss various grievances of the workmen of the department particularly the employees belonging to the Work Charged establishment and laid emphasis on the issue of filling up of vacant posts, regularization of services of casual workers employed on daily wage, timely issue of liveries, implementation of enhanced stitching charges for the uniform, payment of OTA allowance commensurate to the wages being drawn by the Work Charged employee, payment of Night Duty allowance etc. The Chief Engineer, APWD assured to look into the grievances of the workmen projected by the Union and to settle them as per merit giving priority to the issues pertaining to filling up of vacant posts.
