Port Blair, Dec 29: Indian Coast Guard conducts ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ awareness programmes at remote places in A&N Islands including Diglipur, Hut Bay and Kamorta. The aim of the event was to create awareness among masses to save and educate girl child and also to enlighten about the innumerable schemes, Act and laws for protection of female/girl child. The service has been effectively contributing not only towards Prime Minister’s social campaign of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ but also aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls.
The event was conducted by Coast Guard Station Diglipur at Govt higher secodary school keralapuram, Diglipur in coordination with Anganwadi and social welfare department. Teachers and students were enthusiastically participated in the programme. Many activites includng Tug of war, quiz competition and some other fabulous games were undertaken during the programme. Coast Guard Station Hut Bay conducted the awareness programme at the Anganwadi centre, RK Pur, Little Andaman. Coast Guard wives welfare association (CGWWA) at Hut Bay and Butterfly NGO were the active partners of the programme. A special medical and Health check up camp was also organised for the local populace (approximately 90 personnel) and medicines were provided. Coast Guard Station Kamorta also conducted awareness programme in coordination with Anganwadi, social welfare department and a volley ball match was also conducted between girls students of Champion and Gol Tekri schools.
