Port Blair, Dec 19: Officers attending the Higher Air Command Course, along with Directing Staff from College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad are on a visit to Andaman & Nicobar Islands from 18 to 21 Dec 17.
During their visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Command, the course participants and Directing Staff officers were briefed on the strategic dimensions of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and on the role and capabilities of the ANC and its Components. Visits were also planned to the Army and Naval Component Headquarters to further familiarize them with the Andaman & Nicobar Command. As part of the educational tour, visits were organised to Ross Island, Forest Museum, Cellular Jail and FDN-1.
The environmental and ecological sensitivities of the Islands have been focused upon specifically during various briefings, so that future military leadership remains sensitive to development issues of the islands while focusing on the security aspects.
