Port Blair, Dec 10: A student namely Abdul Irfan of class 8th Vivekananda Kendra Vidhyalaya, Pout Mout suffered major injuries in his right ear on 08th December, inside the school premises. Due to the injury the student suffered 13 stitches in his ear and according to his parents there is a fracture as well as blood clot in his head too.
As per the father of the victim student, Mr Abdul Islam, his wife received a call from the school at around 12:30pm on 08th December and was told to reach the GB Pant Hospital immediately as his son suffered serious injuries in an accident inside the school. Following the call he reached the Hospital at around 01:30pm.
“After asking the teacher who brought our son to the Hospital, said that while running during lunch break hours my son hit a concrete wall which badly injured the ear of the student,” said Mr Islam.
The father of victim student further said that the Principal of the School also called him on the same day but she narrated an entirely different story and also added “it happens among students”.
Mr Abdul Islam further said that few days ago his son came first after competing with the 10th class students in a running race and he also got a medal for that.
However today when the victim student gave a statement to the Police he said that while he was coming down from the stairs, someone pushed him from behind following which he fell and became unconscious.
“If our child will not be safe even inside the school, then what option will be left for a parent,” said the father of the victim student.
Disheartened father also said that no teacher or the principal of the school even took the pain to come and see their student in the hospital.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the member, Union Territory Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Mrs Rubina Siddique said that they have met the child in the hospital and there is something suspicious as it doesn’t look like an accident. “We are going to conduct an inquiry in this regard,” Mrs Rubina said.
Andaman Sheekha when tried to contact the Principal of the School through another teacher of the school but she refused to comment anything in this regard over phone.
