Port Blair, Nov 26: An Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi sponsored 21 day Winter School on ‘Developments in Organic farming in Tropical Islands of India’ is being organized from 7th – 27th November, 2017 at ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI), Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Dr. Cherukumalli Srinivasa Rao, Director, NAARM, Hyderabad will be the Chief Guest and attend the valedictory function of Winter School to be held at 9.45 A.M. on 27th November, 2017 and Dr. A. Kundu, Director (Acting), ICAR-CIARI will preside over the function. Directors of the line Departments will be attending the function.
Twenty five trainees in the rank of Assistant Professor / Scientist / Subject Matter Specialists from State Agricultural Universities / ICAR Institutes from mainland representing Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Orissa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, Uttar Pradesh and A & N Islands have participated.
During the training programme, trainees were imparted with the latest developments in organic farming by experts from CIARI and also from mainland. Field visits to organic farmers and farms were also made by the trainees.
